Pete Lyons is an American motorsport journalist and photographer who has covered auto racing for over 50 years. His work has focused extensively on Can-Am, Formula 1, and other major racing series since the late 1960s.
As both a writer and photographer, Lyons documented what many consider the golden age of motorsport through his regular contributions to AutoWeek, Road & Track, and other prominent publications. His books include Can-Am, which chronicled the Canadian-American Challenge Cup series, and Shadow: The Magnificent Machines of a Man of Mystery.
Lyons received the Dean Batchelor Lifetime Achievement Award from the Motor Press Guild and was inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to motorsport journalism. His father Ozzie Lyons was also involved in motorsport as a race official and journalist, helping to inspire Pete's early interest in racing photography and journalism.
