Gerald N. Lund is an American author and religious educator best known for writing historical fiction and theological works for a Latter-day Saint audience. His most successful series, The Work and the Glory, spans nine volumes and has sold over two million copies. Lund spent much of his career working in the Church Educational System of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a seminary teacher, institute instructor, and curriculum writer. During this time, he began writing fiction that incorporated historical events with religious themes. His other notable works include The Kingdom and the Crown trilogy, set in New Testament times, and The Fire and the Covenant, which follows the Mormon handcart pioneers. Beyond fiction, Lund has authored several doctrinal books including Divine Signatures and Hearing the Voice of the Lord. Born in 1939 in Fountain Green, Utah, Lund earned his B.A. and M.A. in Sociology from Brigham Young University. He later served as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2002 to 2008.
