📖 Overview
Robby Krieger served as the guitarist for The Doors from 1965 to 1973, contributing to the band's distinctive sound through his flamenco-influenced playing style and jazz-fusion techniques. He wrote several of the band's hit songs, including "Light My Fire," "Love Me Two Times," and "Touch Me."
Following The Doors' dissolution after Jim Morrison's death in 1971, Krieger formed the Robby Krieger Band and later collaborated with fellow Doors member Ray Manzarek in various projects. He continued performing and recording throughout the decades, maintaining his connection to The Doors' musical legacy.
Krieger published his memoir "Set the Night on Fire: Living, Dying, and Playing Guitar with The Doors" in 2021. The book details his experiences as a founding member of one of rock's most influential bands and provides his perspective on the group's rise to fame and internal dynamics.
His guitar work influenced numerous musicians and helped define the psychedelic rock sound of the late 1960s. Krieger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Doors in 1993.
