🤔 Interesting facts
🐱 Mog the Forgetful Cat was first published in 1970 and was inspired by the author's own family cat, a tabby who would often sit on the garden wall waiting to be let in, despite having a cat flap.
📚 Author Judith Kerr wrote and illustrated the book while working as a BBC TV scriptwriter. She went on to create 17 more books featuring Mog over the next 32 years.
🎨 The Thomas family in the book was based on Kerr's own family, and she used her real-life home in Barnes, London, as the model for the illustrations.
✨ In 2015, UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's created a Christmas advertisement featuring Mog, with Kerr's approval. The accompanying book "Mog's Christmas Calamity" sold over 74,000 copies in its first week.
🌟 The final Mog book, "Goodbye Mog" (2002), dealt sensitively with the topic of death and helped many children cope with the loss of pets. Kerr wrote it after her own cat died at the age of 19.
