📖 Overview
Marie Catherine Hale is found covered in blood, the only survivor at a murder scene in Black Deer Falls, Minnesota in 1958. The fifteen-year-old girl refuses to speak to anyone except Michael Jensen, the teenage son of the local sheriff who dreams of becoming a journalist.
The murders are part of a string of killings across the Midwest known as the Bloodless Murders, where families are found drained of blood with no witnesses - until Marie. Michael begins interviewing Marie to uncover the truth about the murders while questioning whether he can trust her account of events.
The investigation forces Michael to confront questions about truth, justice, and his own beliefs about what is possible in the world. Through their conversations, both teenagers must grapple with how to understand violence and evil that seems to defy rational explanation.
This supernatural thriller explores the thin line between fact and fiction, while examining how stories shape our understanding of truth and our search for meaning in the face of senseless violence.
