📖 Overview
Everlost follows the journey of children who become trapped in a realm between life and death after failing to reach their final destination. In this parallel world, these spirits - called Afterlights - cannot interact with the living and must keep moving to avoid sinking through the earth's surface.
Nick and Allie, two newly arrived Afterlights, find themselves navigating this strange dimension where only beloved lost objects and destroyed places exist permanently. They encounter other lost children, including Lief who warns them of dangers, and Mary Hightower who runs a shelter in the preserved Twin Towers of Everlost.
The story centers on the children's attempts to understand their new existence while facing threats from various forces in Everlost, including the mysterious McGill and competing factions of Afterlights who have different ideas about their purpose in this between-world.
This first book in the Skinjacker trilogy explores themes of identity, purpose, and the nature of existence through its unique vision of the afterlife - a place where memory and love hold physical power, and where the rules of reality no longer apply.
