📖 Overview
Conan the Gladiator follows the exploits of Conan the Barbarian in the city of Thujara. After a street fight incident, he joins a traveling circus troupe as their new strongman, partly due to his interest in Sathilda, a panther trainer.
The troupe's journey takes them to Stygia's capital city of Luxor, where Emperor Commodorus rules with iron-fisted authority. The circus performers find themselves forced to participate in deadly arena combat against warriors and beasts, with Conan facing increasingly difficult challenges as a gladiator.
In Luxor, Conan encounters various characters including rebel Stygians, priests of Set, and fellow gladiators. His experiences in the arena lead him to question his role in the violent spectacles, while also applying his military expertise to survive.
The novel explores themes of personal transformation and the tension between violence and conscience, set against the backdrop of power, tyranny, and religious influence in the Hyborian Age.
