📖 Overview
The Merchant of Death introduces Bobby Pendragon, a 14-year-old who discovers he is a Traveler - someone who can journey between different worlds or "territories." His normal life changes when his Uncle Press pulls him away from a basketball game and leads him into an adventure that spans multiple dimensions.
The story centers on Denduron, a territory with three suns where two tribes exist in stark contrast: the oppressed Milago miners and their rulers, the privileged Bedoowan. The Milago work in dangerous conditions extracting a precious mineral called glaze, while the Bedoowan live in luxury with advanced technology and comfort.
Bobby must navigate this complex world while facing Saint Dane, an antagonist who seeks to break down the barriers between all territories. The narrative alternates between Bobby's direct experiences and journal entries he sends to his friends back home on Second Earth.
This first installment in the Pendragon series explores themes of social inequality, responsibility, and the loss of innocence as a young person confronts harsh realities beyond their familiar world.
