📖 Overview
Thirteen-year-old Nita Callahan discovers a mysterious book titled "So You Want to Be a Wizard" while hiding from bullies in her local library. After taking the Wizard's Oath contained within its pages, she realizes the book is real and she has gained access to genuine magical abilities.
Nita meets Kit Rodriguez, another young wizard-in-training, and together they begin exploring their new powers. The two novice wizards encounter Fred, a sentient white hole from space, and discover a dark alternate version of Manhattan that threatens their reality.
The young wizards must navigate both their newfound magical responsibilities and ordinary teenage challenges, including school, bullies, and family life. Their introduction to wizardry leads them into an ancient conflict between good and evil forces.
This first installment in the Young Wizards series explores themes of friendship, courage, and the responsibilities that come with power, while presenting magic as a force grounded in science and natural law rather than whimsy.
