📖 Overview
Aidan Thomas moves with his family to Colorado, leaving behind his home and friends in Maryland. In his loneliness, he discovers ancient scrolls in his grandfather's basement that transport him to a parallel realm called The Realm.
The Realm mirrors our world but exists in a different dimension, where medieval knights serve under King Eliam in an epic struggle against dark forces. Aidan must train as a knight and choose whether to align himself with Eliam or with the enemy who promises power and glory.
As Aidan navigates both worlds, his choices in The Realm begin to impact events in his own reality. The story explores themes of faith, loyalty, and the battle between good and evil through parallel narratives that intersect in unexpected ways.

🤔 Interesting facts
🗡️ The Door Within was Wayne Thomas Batson's debut novel, published in 2005 while he was still working as a middle school reading teacher.

⚔️ The book draws inspiration from C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, particularly in its parallel-world structure and allegorical themes.
👑 The main character, Aidan Thomas, was named after Batson's nephew, and many other character names in the book have Celtic or Anglo-Saxon origins.
