The Archived

📖 Overview

The Archived follows Mackenzie Bishop, a teenage Keeper tasked with returning the restless dead - known as Histories - to a vast supernatural library called the Archive. After her family moves to an old hotel-turned-apartment building, Mac must balance her secret duties with her normal life while dealing with her younger brother's death. In this Gothic-tinged world, the dead are stored like books, their memories and experiences preserved in physical form. Mac patrols the Narrows, a shadowy space between the living world and the Archive, where she uses her fighting skills and special abilities to track down escaped Histories before they can reach the realm of the living. When a series of disturbances rocks the Archive and her new home harbors dark secrets, Mac finds herself caught between her sworn duties and mounting questions about the institution she serves. Her growing connection with a fellow Keeper named Wesley forces her to confront both her past and the true nature of her role. The Archived explores themes of grief, memory, and the price of preserving the past. Through its unique premise, the novel asks what it means to truly let go and whether some secrets are better left buried.
