📖 Overview
A robbery-gone-wrong leaves Raffaello Beggiato's wife and son dead. The killer receives a life sentence, while his young accomplice gets a shorter term. Fifteen years later, the accomplice's mother contacts Beggiato with a request that will force him to confront his loss in an unexpected way.
The narrative alternates between Beggiato's perspective and that of the imprisoned killer, Silvano Contin. Their parallel stories reveal two men trapped by the consequences of a single violent act, though in very different ways.
The novel explores the nature of justice, revenge, and redemption in modern Italy. Through stark prose and unflinching examination of its characters' psychological states, Death's Dark Abyss raises questions about whether true healing is possible in the aftermath of devastating violence.
