Book

The Shadow of the Fox

📖 Overview

A half-kitsune girl raised by monks guards an ancient scroll containing part of a deadly prayer that could summon a great dragon. When her temple is attacked, she must flee with the scroll and joins forces with a mysterious samurai who has his own mission. The story takes place in a fantasy version of feudal Japan, filled with yokai spirits, demons, and magic. Multiple clans and factions pursue the pieces of the prayer scroll while navigating complex political alliances and betrayals. This first book in a trilogy combines Japanese mythology, martial arts action, and classic quest elements into a coming-of-age narrative. The dual perspectives of the main characters reveal different aspects of honor, duty, and the true cost of power in this supernatural world. The novel explores themes of identity and belonging through characters who exist between human and spirit realms, while questioning whether some powers are too dangerous to be wielded by anyone - even those with good intentions.
