📖 Overview
The End of the World Running Club follows Ed, an out-of-shape father in Edinburgh who becomes separated from his family after asteroids devastate the UK. With communications down and transportation impossible, Ed must run the length of Britain to reunite with his wife and children before they depart for a rescue ship.
Ed joins a small group of survivors who decide to attempt the journey south on foot, knowing they have mere weeks to reach the evacuation point. The group faces the realities of a post-apocalyptic Britain while pushing their bodies to the limit as they run day after day through a transformed landscape.
Their run becomes a test of both physical and mental endurance as they encounter other survivors and confront the collapse of civilization. Along the way, Ed must reckon with his past choices and his role as a husband and father.
The novel explores themes of redemption and transformation against the backdrop of societal breakdown, asking what remains of humanity when all familiar structures fall away. At its core, it is a story about the distance between who we are and who we wish to be.
