Crystal Mask

📖 Overview

Crystal Mask is a fantasy novel set in a world where Singers use powerful Songs to maintain peace and protect half-human creatures. The story takes place in and around the Echorium, a mystical institution on the Isle of Echoes where Singers train in the use of five Songs of Power that can induce effects ranging from sleep to death. The narrative occurs twenty years after the events of the first book, Song Quest, and centers on the reemergence of a dangerous crystal artifact. The black crystal known as khiz holds the power to manipulate thoughts and memories, presenting a threat to the Singers and their way of life. The plot follows characters who must confront the possibility that a defeated enemy from the past has returned with renewed strength and dangerous intentions. The story incorporates unique elements like bluestone-enhanced hearing abilities and various half-creatures including merlee, naga, and quetzal. This second installment in The Echorium Sequence explores themes of memory, truth, and the responsibility that comes with wielding power. The novel builds on the established mythology while raising questions about the nature of knowledge and its potential for both good and evil.
