📖 Overview
Song Quest is a fantasy novel set in a world where Singers, gifted with Songs of Power, maintain peace from their home on the Isle of Echoes. The five Songs - Challa, Kashe, Shi, Aushan, and Yehn - each carry specific powers that can induce sleep, laughter, sadness, fear, or death.
The story centers on young novice Singers who must learn to master their abilities while navigating the complex politics between the mainland and their isolated home. Half Creatures - beings that are part human, part animal - live under treaties protected by the Singers, but face threats from those who would exploit them.
The narrative follows two final-year novices who venture to the mainland on separate paths as they confront dangers to both the Half Creatures and the Singer's way of life. Their journey takes them from the bluestone cliffs of their island home to the northern mountains where the Karchholders hold sway.
This coming-of-age tale explores themes of responsibility, the use of power, and the balance between tradition and change in a divided world.
