Set in ancient Egypt, this fantasy novel follows Senu, a young hemutiu who possesses a ghostly double named Red. Together with their supernatural ability called Ka, they navigate life among the pyramid builders and temple priests.
When a dare in the hemutiu tombs goes wrong, Senu's powers attract the attention of Imakhu captain Nemhab. This leads to his assignment to work with the Scorpions, a gang involved in building Lord Khafre's pyramid.
The story combines elements of ancient Egyptian mythology, supernatural powers, and political intrigue as Senu becomes caught in a larger conflict over control of the two lands. The narrative explores themes of power, responsibility, and the complex relationship between the physical and spiritual worlds of ancient Egypt.
