🤔 Interesting facts
🌿 The original Danish title of the series is "Vildheks," which translates directly to "Wild Witch," reflecting the raw, nature-based magic system in the books.
🐱 The author Lene Kaaberbøl began her writing career at just 15 years old with her debut novel "Katja," published in Denmark in 1975.
🌳 The series draws heavily from Nordic folklore traditions, where witches traditionally had strong connections to nature and could communicate with animals rather than casting spells with wands.
📚 Before writing Wildwitch, Kaaberbøl gained international recognition for co-authoring the Nina Borg crime series and translating over 40 books from English to Danish.
🌍 The book's environmental themes resonate with Danish culture, as Denmark has been consistently ranked among the world's most environmentally conscious nations and was one of the first countries to establish a Ministry of Environment.
