📖 Overview
Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, pursue the art of alchemy in a world where this science allows practitioners to transform matter through equivalent exchange. After a failed alchemical attempt to resurrect their mother costs Edward his arm and leg and leaves Alphonse's soul trapped in a suit of armor, they embark on a quest to find the Philosopher's Stone to restore their bodies.
The brothers' journey leads them to become State Alchemists, working for the military government of Amestris while investigating the stone's secrets. Their path crosses with allies and enemies including other alchemists, government officials, and mysterious homunculi, all with their own motives regarding the stone's power.
The narrative explores themes of sacrifice, family bonds, and the price of power through its blend of action, science fantasy, and moral philosophy. The consequences of manipulating the natural order and the relationship between scientific progress and human ethics stand at the core of this tale.
